Verify an AskGAAP proof
What AskGAAP produces. AskGAAP helps controllers and technical accounting teams work through accounting and financial reporting questions, from how to recognize revenue under a new contract to how a transaction should be presented and disclosed. The result is a scenario analysis and, if you choose, a working memo documenting the conclusion for preparer review.
What the verification record is. When an analysis is finalized, AskGAAP will create a verification record for it: a digital fingerprint of the analysis exactly as finalized. The record will be kept under a unique ID. If anyone later changes the analysis (a number, a conclusion, a cited source), it will no longer match its record.
Who should care, and why. Accounting and reporting conclusions are often reviewed long after they are written, by a CFO, an audit committee, or an external auditor. Anyone can attach a record to a document, so the check that matters is against AskGAAP's own record of what was finalized. This page will let a reviewer check whether the document matches the verification record created when the analysis was finalized. It shows the document is unchanged; it does not show the conclusion is correct. That judgment stays with the preparer and reviewer.
How it works. The verification record will be attached automatically when the analysis is finalized, so the two stay together. A reviewer who receives the analysis will be able to check it here against AskGAAP's record. The check is not live yet; for now, the form below shows a sample result rather than a real check.
Technical details
A finalized AskGAAP analysis will include a verification record containing a digital fingerprint of the analysis. When verification is live, this page will compare the document with that finalized record and report whether they match. That result will address document integrity only; it will not determine whether the accounting conclusion is correct or suitable for reliance.
The public verification API is not live yet. The form below is a preview and returns an illustrative pending result. Verification responses use a constant-shape result and do not expose source plaintext, model identity, routing, or scoring. Do not place verification information in a URL.
